GBV epidemic | Alcohol abuse a factor in gender-based violence

JOHANNESBURG – Gender-based violence continues to be a huge concern in South Africa.
A study by the Human Sciences Research Council shows factors such as alcohol abuse and poor mental health, are linked to men committing GBV crimes.
It says more than 33 percent of women have experienced physical violence perpetrated by men in their lifetime.
There are growing calls for men to unite in the fight against GBV.
Gender-based violence expert Lisa Vetten discussed this with eNCA.
